Though email scams are the main concern, we need to remember that classic phone scams are still happening

Hemu’s Bottom Line: Though email scams are the main concern, we need to remember that classic phone scams are still happening

Phone scams are still occurring, and the public needs to be aware of who they are receiving calls from. Most recently, people will receive missed calls, from places such as the Dominican Republic or Jamaica, and the phone only rings once, causing recipients to call back. They are automatically charged around $20, and additional charges rack up each minute they are on the line. “Cramming” is used to define this practice of using wireless accounts to illegally charge callers. Watch out for the one ring scam, and avoid calls with unfamiliar numbers and foreign area codes.
